The Ringgold County Courthouse in Mount Ayr , the Justice and Administration Building ( Courthouse ) of Ringgold County in southern US -amerikanischen state of Iowa .
The current building is the fourth courthouse in Ringgold County, founded in 1847. In 1856 a small log cabin was built as the first courthouse, which fell victim to a tornado just two years later. The second building, a sturdy and larger timber frame construction , served 25 until it became too small and unsafe for the increased tasks. In 1884 the third courthouse was built. The two-story building was brick and had a clock tower. From 1921 onwards, the house could no longer be used due to rotten bricks.
Today's courthouse is a three-storey brick building built from 1926–1927 according to a design by architects Keffer & Jones in the neoclassical style.
In 1981 the building was added to the National Register of Historic Places with reference number 81000267 .
