The Lower Black Moss Reservoir |
The Black Moss Reservoirs are two reservoirs north of Barley on the eastern edge of Pendle Hill in Lancashire , England . The area in which they are located is a separate part of the AONB Forest of Bowland .
The Black Moss Water first feeds the Upper Black Moss Reservoir and then flows through the Lower Black Moss Reservoir southwest of it . The reservoirs provide drinking water for the city of Nelson and its surroundings.
The larger of the two reservoirs, the Lower Black Moss Reservoir, was completed in 1903 and the Upper Black Moss Reservoir was completed in 1894.
