The Rinspeed Bedouin is a concept vehicle from the Swiss company Rinspeed presented at the Geneva Motor Show in 2003 .

The Bedouin is based on a Porsche 996 Carrera Turbo, whose all-wheel drive and floor pan it has among other things. Externally, the car appears as an off-road vehicle with a height of 14 centimeters ; the chassis can be adjusted in hardness and height. A four-valve, twin-charger turbo engine with 420 hp and six cylinders drives the Bedouin and accelerates the vehicle powered by natural gas to a governed 250 km / h. The 100 km / h mark is reached after 5.9 seconds.

Like all concept vehicles from the Swiss design company, the Bedouin also has some technical "gimmicks". It can be transformed from a four-seater station wagon into a pickup with two seats in ten seconds by pressing a button or using the remote control . This is ensured by two electric motors that first lower or raise the entire vehicle roof via mechanical spindle gears. The front roof section folds up to the rear window, the rear to the loading area.

To increase safety, the adjustment mechanism is equipped with self-locking and functionally identical fuses and safety switches.

The interior of the Bedouin is very exclusive. The interior fittings were almost completely taken over from the 996, but the fittings were created together with Rinspeed partner Swarovski . Among other things, the door panels, the gear knob and the Rinspeed logo in the seats of the car were covered with crystals. In addition, the interior of the Bedouin includes a seven-inch flat screen that the driver can use as a reversing camera or the passenger as an entertainment medium.
