The Rinspeed Splash in 2009

The Rinspeed Splash is a concept vehicle from the Zumikon- based company Rinspeed . The vehicle was developed for the anniversary of the company's tenth own concept vehicle and presented at the 2004 Geneva Motor Show.

The Splash can be converted into an amphibious vehicle at the push of a button and brings it in the water with an empty weight of only 825 kilograms and its 140 hp to a top speed of 80 km / h. On land the vehicle has a top speed of 200 km / h, and from a standstill the car can reach 100 km / h in 5.9 seconds.

The Splash's low weight is thanks to its special “skin”, which is largely made of light carbon .

Use in the water

In the water, the splash is driven by a propeller, which sinks itself from a water depth of 1.1 meters. This is steered via the vehicle's steering wheel. From a water depth of 1.3 meters, the pilot of the car can also fold two hydrofoils out of the sides of the Splash in order to make the car glide almost sixty centimeters above the surface of the water as a hydrofoil .

The wings are extended by an electronic hydraulic system.
