Rintelen is the name of a Herford councilor family , whose family line begins with Albert von Rintelen , councilor and mayor of the old town of Herford, mentioned in a document between 1303 and 1317.

Nobility rise

Elevation to the Prussian hereditary nobility on June 16, 1913 in Berlin with a diploma of May 27, 1914 for the then royal Prussian major general zD Wilhelm Rintelen . He was the son of Viktor Rintelen and grandson of Wilhelm Rintelen .

In blue a shining golden sun (family coat of arms, seal from the year 1366) over a horizontal downwardly flaming golden beam of fire. On the helmet with blue and gold covers the sun between open blue flight .

  1. At that time, the form of the name “von Rintelen” did not yet indicate membership of the German nobility, but was merely a designation of origin. That will u. a. also clear from the fact that they, like other bearers of the name, later only bore the simple name " Rintelen " .
