The picture chapel is a chapel near Oberjoch in the Oberallgäu district .

It was built in the 17th century from broken stones and rolling stones as a resting chapel on the steepest part of the old Jochstrasse, south of Oberjoch shortly before the steep descent into the Ostrach Valley . The origin was probably a field cross with a one-sided, semicircular back wall. A closed small nave was added to this, which was later extended again. The chapel has a western vestibule; the ship is provided with a flat, ogival cleaning barrel and divided by a grid. The choir is slightly drawn in and has a semicircular ending. There is a high baroque crucifixion group on a stone cafeteria, which corresponds in the style of the Maria in the front Marienkapelle in Hinterstein . Two diagonally hovering angels with ribbons once belonged to the high baroque altar of the Horn Chapel .

The chapel, which is covered with a hipped shingle roof, has no tower. On the clapboard-clad gable there is a wrought-iron Wessobrunner cross , a double cross like the one found on all chapels that were used to build pious carters. Carters probably also donated the simple crucifixion group from the 17th century. At that time, haulage on the Jochstrasse was of greatest importance.

The walls are decorated with pictures with historical events in the Ostrachtal. The chapel owes its name to these images.
