Marinus Wilhelmus Johanna Maria "Rinus" Peijnenburg (born January 29, 1928 in Geldrop , Province of Noord-Brabant , † April 1, 1979 in Rotterdam ) was a Dutch economic manager and politician of the Katholieke Volkspartij (KVP), who was among other things a member of the Second Chamber of the States General and between 1977 and his death 1979 in the Cabinet Van Agt I was Minister without Portfolio for Science Policy.

Life

Marinus "Rinus" Wilhelmus Johanna Maria Peijnenburg came from a family of industrialists and was a grandson of Harry Peijnenburg, the founder of honey cake manufacturer Koninklijke Peijnenburg BV After World War II , he was the end of the Indonesian War of Independence in 1949 to the military service to those in the Dutch East Indies stationed armed forces placed . He was also chairman of the supervisory board of the textile industry company Stoomweverijen Besouw NV between 1969 and 1978 and a member of the North Atlantic Assembly between May 1970 and September 1971 . During his membership in parliament he was one of the spokespersons for the CIP parliamentary group in 1973 in the debate on the draft law on the protection of income and occupational health and safety, and in 1974 spokesman for the budget deliberations. In addition, from December 1975 to June 1977 he was chairman of the special committee for the report on the restructuring of the Dutch economy and development cooperation and from 16 June 1976 to 8 June 1977 deputy member of the Presidium of the Second Chamber.

Rinus Peijnenburg was involved in the formation of the cabinet in 1977 as financial advisor to Dries van Agt and was appointed to the Van Agt I cabinet on December 19, 1977 as Minister without Portfolio for Science Policy (Minister zonder portefeuille, laden met wetenschapsbeleid) . He held this office until his death on April 1, 1979 due to a myocardial infarction that he suffered on March 12, 1979.

His cousin was the politician and government official Gerard Peijnenburg , who was State Secretary and General Secretary of the Ministry of Defense.
