The Arinos ( Portuguese rio Arinos [ ˌχiu aˈɾinuz ]) is a right tributary of the Rio Juruena in Mato Grosso in Brazil .

River course

The Arinos rises east of Diamantino in the Serra Azul . From there it flows through the state of Mato Grosso in a north-westerly direction until it flows into the Rio Juruena . Its most important tributaries include the Agua Verde (left), the Parecis (left), the Rio dos Patos (right) and the Rio Petro, the Sumidor in the middle and the Rio dos Peixes (right) in the lower reaches. In the middle and lower reaches between the mountain ranges Serra dos Caiabis and Serra do Tombador , some of which run parallel to it, flow through. There are a number of rapids in both the upper and lower reaches.

The first European to discover and ride the Arinos was Joam de Souza e Azevedo .
