Rise is an instrumental, in a relaxed disco-funk style (would be called lounge music today), by Herb Alpert from 1979, which was composed by Andy Armer and Randy Alpert. It appeared on the album of the same name on Alpert's own label A&M Records . Randy and Herb Alpert are responsible for production.

history

Rise was originally planned and recorded as an up-tempo dance number, but later drummer Steve Schaefer suggested that producers Randy and Herb Alpert slow the beats down to 100 bpm. After the release on July 20, 1979, the success came very quickly: No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 and the simultaneous use in the series General Hospital , later heard in an episode of American Horror Story: 1984 . At the 1980 Grammy Awards , the instrumental was recognized in the Best Instrumental Performance category - Pop . The single had a playing time of 3:50 minutes, the album version 7:40.
