background

A quote from Perry's statement, which is why she is releasing her new song at this point in time:

“This song has been 'inside of me' for years and is now coming to the surface. It was very inspiring to quit now instead of waiting for the album to be released. Because now the time is better than ever when it is necessary to keep the world together. I know that together we can grow beyond fear - in our country and around the world. I know of no better example than the Olympic athletes who, with their strength and fearlessness in Rio, remind us that we should ALL stick together and give our best. I hope this song will inspire us to heal, to unite and to increase together. "
