Alternative Press Music Award for Artist Philanthropic
The Alternative Press Music Award for Artist Philanthropic , in German "Alternative Press Music Award for Social Commitment" is a music prize that has been awarded since 2014 at the annual Alternative Press Music Awards . The award is given to artists who, in the opinion of the readers of Alternative Press, have achieved special achievements in the social field for a non-profit organization. So far, three artists have each received an award in this category.
background
On April 24, 2014, the American music magazine Alternative Press , which specializes in punk , hardcore and their sub-genres, announced the first-time presentation of the Alternative Press Music Awards . This was justified by the fact that "the Alternative Press has been the leading voice in this music and lifestyle for 30 years and you finally have a night to celebrate it."
The first award ceremony took place on July 21, 2014 at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Museum in Cleveland , Ohio . The readers of the music magazine were initially able to vote for their favorites in twelve categories, which were previously nominated by the magazine. This also included the category for social engagement . In its first year, the American pop-punk band All Time Low won this award for their commitment to Skate4Cancer . The following year, Taking Back Sunday received this award for their work with the American Cancer Society . In 2016 Jake Luhrs , singer of the metalcore band August Burns Red, received the award in this category for his project HeartSupport . The category will not be awarded in 2017.
