The fourth Alternative Press Music Awards (APMAs) took place on July 17, 2017 at the KeyBank State Theater in Cleveland , Ohio .

background

On December 22, 2016, it was announced that the fourth Alternative Press Music Awards ceremony will take place on July 17, 2017 in Cleveland , Ohio , at which point the exact location for the ceremony has not yet been determined. The Quicken Loans Arena was confirmed as the venue at the end of March . In mid-February 2017, it was announced that Andy Biersack , singer of the Black Veil Brides , would moderate the award ceremony. A good two months later, the first artists who will perform live at the award ceremony were announced.

On April 20, 2017, the first nominations for the award ceremony in the category Best Newcomer Music Video were announced. This category is being awarded for the first time. Five days later, the nominations in the remaining categories were announced. For the first time, the best hard rock band was determined, while the prize for social commitment and the best international band was not awarded this year. Shortly before the awards ceremony, it became known that the event had been moved to the smaller KeyBank State Theater for logistical reasons .
