History of origin
After the group with Heart vs. Mind released the first EP on their own, the musicians were signed to the Californian punk label Fearless Records in March 2015 . This was due to the commercial success of the EP, as well as a cover version of the song Blank Space by Taylor Swift , both of which entered the official US charts. Blank Space has meanwhile been awarded a gold record .
The album title was announced on June 21, 2016. It's called Lifelines and was recorded and produced by BJ Perry and John Pregler at the Wall of Sound Studios in Riley , Michigan . However, at this point in time no exact release date was set. A few days later, the main single of the album, Scars , was presented to the public. Another single followed on August 12, 2016 with the release of the song Stuck in Your Head . A third single, Come and Get It , followed at the end of September . The album itself was finally released on October 21, 2016.

promotion
The group announced that they would be on an extensive concert tour of the United States between July 14 and August 27, 2016 . I Prevail was accompanied by My Enemie & I and The White Noise . Immediately afterwards the band could be seen in the opening act for Neck Deep and Pierce the Veil . Pierce the Veil used the tour to promote their fourth studio album Misadventures , while I Prevail presented new pieces from their debut album, which was released shortly after the concert tour. On the way to a concert in Fresno , California , which was also part of the tour, the band's tour bus caught fire, with the musicians losing all personal valuables as well as unreleased song material. With the help of the musicians from Neck Deep, I Prevail was able to bring the tour to an end.

reception
Lukas Prieske from Stormbringer.at awarded the highest rating of five points and compared the music with A Day to Remember . He judged that the album was good for the post-hardcore genre compared to all the Asking Alexandria casts. He also wrote that the group did everything right compared to A Day to Remembers Bad Vibrations .
Tomas Doyle from Rock Sound wrote that the handset, which I Prevail of the classic metalcore sound stage with screaming vocals expect on the album are likely to be pleasantly surprised. The album provides variety with influences from soft rock and pop music with guaranteed mosh parts. Nevertheless, the group must continue to work on their music. Natasha Van Duser of Alternative Press says the album should give fans of 2000s alternative rock a déjà vu. The album comes up with a mixture of gripping pop sounds and hardcore nature. After their success with the Taylor Swift cover Blank Space , the band managed, according to Van Duser, to produce thirteen original songs that were catchy tunes and stuck in people's minds.
