chronology
Lost Forever // Lost Together (2014) All Our Gods Have Abandoned Us Holy Hell (2018)

All Our Gods Have Abandoned Us is the seventh studio album by the British metalcore - band Architects . It was released worldwide on May 27, 2016 via Epitaph Records with the exception of Australia and Canada . There the album was released via UNFD and New Damage .

It is the first album that the group recorded with guitarist Adam Christianson, who was touring with the band between 2012 and 2015. In addition, All Our Gods Have Abandoned Us is the last album in collaboration with Tom Searle, who died of cancer on August 20, 2016 .

The album was recorded in Gothenburg , Sweden and is described as the “heaviest and darkest work of the band”. All Our Gods Have Abandoned Us made international chart entries, including in Germany , Austria , the United Kingdom , the United States and Switzerland .

background

In an announcement by the Australian label UNFD , it was said that the group flew to Gothenburg , Sweden in October 2015 to work on their album with Fredrik Nordström and Henrik Udd at Studio Fredman . The previous work Lost Forever // Lost Together was recorded in Studio Fredman . In total, the work on All Our Gods Have Abandoned Us took seven weeks, so production was completed in December of the same year.

In March 2016, Epitaph Records published the first part of the band's studio diary on YouTube , in which the musicians explain the genesis of the album in detail. The group decided to take a similar musical path that they had already suggested on the previous one. For this reason, the musicians decided to work again with Nordström and Udd.

The title of the album goes back to a line from the song Nihilist , which can be found on the album itself. According to singer Sam Carter, this line reflects the dark and crazy place the world is in these days.

Tom Searle's death

The group had to cancel a headlining tour of the United States , which was due to take place between July and August 2016, due to a "family emergency". This turned out to be a euphemistic statement for Tom Searle's cancer, which reached its critical phase during this period. Searle died of cancer in late August . The group announced they would tour Australia and the United Kingdom despite the loss .
