The Ritter-von-Traitteur-Mittelschule in Forchheim is a general education school of the lower secondary level , which leads to the qualifying secondary school leaving certificate or the secondary school leaving certificate ( Mittlere Reife ).

Namesake

The school is named after Karlheinz Ritter von Traitteur , who was Lord Mayor of Forchheim from 1961 to 1990 . The school's logo is the family crest of the namesake.

history

The first part of the school building was built in 1927 based on designs by the Nuremberg architects Lehr and Leuberth. It was only in 1951 that the second part of the schoolhouse was added.

The central elementary school Forchheim united the pupils of the Catholic and the Protestant boys' elementary school under one roof. The students continued to be taught separately according to Catholic and Protestant denominations. This separation was maintained during the breaks through separate playgrounds.

As one of the first schools in Bavaria, the Ritter-von-Traitteur-Schule was continuously expanded into an all-day school from the 2000/2001 school year. In 2002, the Central Elementary School Forchheim was renamed the Ritter-von-Traitteur Elementary School in honor of the long-time mayor of Forchheim. Irmgard Edle von Traitteur , the wife of the namesake who died in 2000, has since supported the school not only through the Traitteur Foundation, but also through sustained personal commitment. In the school year 2010/11, the school was one of the first Bavarian schools to meet the criteria of a middle school and has since formed the Forchheim-Eggolsheim-Heroldsbach Middle School Association with three other schools.

School profile

At the Ritter-von-Traitteur-Mittelschule, pupils can attend the half-day school, the open all-day school or the bound all-day school. The regular classes lead to the secondary school leaving certificate or the qualifying secondary school leaving certificate, the M classes lead to the intermediate school leaving certificate.

The in-depth vocational orientation is a focus of the educational work. Through measures such as company visits, internships, projects or week-long seminars, the students are supported in their career choice and intensively prepared for professional life. The school works with a network of partner companies from the region. An apprenticeship fair is held at the school every year together with the partner companies. In numerous working groups, such as B. dance, school band, climbing, swimming, basketball, theater or Spanish, the students can get involved according to their personal inclinations. The school café is run by a student company. Here, the students can gain insights into business processes and prepare for their entry into professional life.

With the tutor system “Students help students”, older students support younger students with homework or with preparing for rehearsals. If there are problems of a school or private nature, the students are supported by a youth social worker.
