Karlheinz Ritter von Traitteur (born March 27, 1925 in Waldsassen , † December 12, 2000 in Forchheim ) was a German local politician ( CSU ).

Life

The Traitteurs come from a noble family from Lorraine and have been based in Germany since the 17th century. Karlheinz Ritter von Traitteur was born as the second son in Waldsassen in 1925, the father Karl Wilhelm von Traitteur was a notary, the mother Bertha Keusch a home economics teacher. His parents had him baptized with the first name Karl Heinrich Horst. After the family moved to Bamberg in 1933, he also completed his school days there. He attended the humanistic grammar school in Bamberg. He was not spared military service from 1942 to 1945. At 18 he was a lieutenant. He experienced the end of the war in American captivity. Traitteur's brother, who was 5 years older, died in World War II. After the war he began to study law at the University of Bamberg and Erlangen. After passing the first and second state exams, Traitteur was a trainee lawyer at the Bamberg District Court and the government of Upper Franconia in Bayreuth from 1952 to 1953 . In 1953 Karlheinz von Traitteur came to Forchheim as a legal state official and representative of the district administrator.

After the Second World War, Traitteur co-founded the CSU Bamberg. He has been working in Forchheim since 1953, and in 1961 the CSU district association Forchheim Stadt nominated him as a candidate for the election of the mayor. Out of 63 votes, Traitteur received 56, with 6 abstentions and only one against. On April 28, 1961, the Forchheim residents elected Karlheinz Ritter von Traitteur as mayor. On June 9, 1961, Karlheinz Ritter von Traitteur Irmgard, née Klein , married from Nuremberg. The church wedding took place ten days later on Fraueninsel in the Chiemsee. Through his re-election in the following election years, he came as Lord Mayor of Forchheim to 1990 for a term of almost 30 years.

The Traitteur was also an avid philatelist. This resulted in the second great passion of Traitteur, traveling to Haiti. Karlheinz von Traitteur died on December 12, 2000.

Since 1948 he was a member of the Catholic student association KDStV Markomannia Würzburg .

Political activity

During his time as Lord Mayor of Forchheim, from 1961 to 1990, he was responsible for projects and decisions that positively influenced the development of the city, such as: B .:

  • Expansion of the sewage treatment plant

  • Construction of the Paradeplatz underground car park

It is largely thanks to him that Siemens came to Forchheim.

He was also chairman of a savings bank district association and the Bavarian city council. From 1980 to 2000 he was President of the Bavarian Philatelic Academy and from 1984 to 1990 1st Chairman of the Malteser Aid Service of the Archdiocese of Bamberg . He was also founding president of the Forchheim Rotary Club.

The city made him an honorary citizen. In 2002 the Central Elementary School Forchheim was renamed the Ritter-von-Traitteur Elementary School by a resolution of the city council .
