The Knights of Rümlang or Lords of Rumlang were a knight and noble family from Rümlang in the canton of Zurich in Switzerland and in southern Baden.

history

Their main castle was the later water house in Ror on the Glatt . Eberhart von Rümlang is mentioned for the first time in 1143 and 1149. Sebastian von Rümlang died in 1528 and was the last male descendant of the old sex.

The knights Heinrich and Dietrich von Rümlang acquired Gutenburg Castle near Gurtweil an der Schlücht from Wilhelm im Thurn in 1447 , so that the Lords of Rümlang slowly began to expand in the Black Forest and in Klettgau as successors to the Barons of Krenkingen and as ardent supporters of the Austrians.

As early as 1467, they gave their bailiffs to Mettenberg , Rippoldsried, Rötenberg, Seewangen, Tombrugg Castle and Aichen to the St. Blasien Monastery , followed by the sale of Gutenburg Castle and the surrounding area by Heinrich von Rümlang and his wife Veronika Froneck , born von Landenberg zu Greifensee to the abbot Christoph and the convent of St. Blasien by Johann Weber, district judge zu Stühlingen on behalf of Count Johann von Lupfen, before the district court of Gurtweil on the Wednesday before the Palm Day 1480.
