The River Balder is a watercourse in County Durham , England . It arises at the confluence of the Balder Beck with the Black Beck .

It flows in an easterly direction and first flows into the Balderhead Reservoir , which is immediately followed by the Blackton Reservoir , which in turn is immediately followed by the Hury Reservoir . The River Balder then flows further east to its confluence with the Tees northeast of Cotherstone .
