The River Nent is a watercourse in Cumbria , England . It arises from the confluence of Old Carr's Burn , Middle Cleugh Burn and Long Cleugh Burn south of Nenthead . It initially flows north. North of Nenthall it turns in a westerly direction and flows through Alston and flows into the South Tyne in the west of the place .
