The River Tame is a river in metropolitan County Greater Manchester in north-west England . It rises in Denshaw Moor on the West Yorkshire border as one of the tributaries of the Readycon Dean Reservoir, flows along the Pennines and joins the Goyt at Stockport , then flows on as the Mersey . The Tameside district is named after the river.
