Riza Printup

Riza Hequibal Printup (born March 20, 1972 in California ) is an American jazz harpist .

Riza Printup first studied at the Indiana University School of Music in Bloomington, Indiana (1990-93) with Susan McDonald. After obtaining a Bachelor of Arts in Music (1994) from Columbia College, Chicago, she continued her jazz studies at Georgia State University 's School of Music, where she a. a. studied with Deborah Henson-Conant , Stella Castellucci and David Baker and earned her Masters. In the 2000s she worked with her husband Marcus Printup , on whose albums Bird of Paradise (2007), Ballads All Night (2010) and A Time for Love (2011) she can be heard. She also played with Kenny Werner ( No Beginning , 2010) and was the assistant to Wynton Marsalis in his orchestral work Two in 3 . In 2011 she performed with the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra and Chick Corea , as well as with Yo-Yo Ma and the Silk Road Ensemble.
