Rizoma ( Greek Ρίζωμα ( n. Sg. )) Is a village in the municipality of Trikala in the Greek region of Thessaly .

The local community Rizoma is located in the north of the municipality of Trikala on the border with the neighboring municipality of Kalambaka . The area of ​​the local community extends over 21.187 km² from the fertile Thessalian lowlands to the southern foothills of the Antichasia Mountains ( Αντιχάσια Όρη Andichásia Óri ) north of the village. The city of Kalambaka is about 11 km northwest, Trikala 13 km south.

When it was separated from the Paralithei community in 1912, the independent rural community Sklatena ( Κοινότητα Σκλαταίνης Kinótita Sklaténis ) with the village of the same name was founded in 1912. The renaming of the Slavic name Sklatena to Rizoma took place in 1927. As part of the municipal reform in 1997 , the village became the administrative seat of the former municipality Paralithei. Together with seven other municipalities, Paralithei was merged into the municipality of Trikala as part of the 2010 administrative reform . Since then, Rizoma has had the status of a local community ( Τοπική Κοινότητα Topikí Kinótita ) in the Paralithei municipality.
