Roßkopfturm

The Roßkopfturm (actually Friedrichsturm after the Grand Duke Friedrich I of Baden ) is a 34.4 meter high observation tower in steel framework construction , which was commissioned and financed by the Black Forest Association and in 1889 by the Freiburg company Ph.Ant. Fauler on the between Dreisamtal and Glottertal located 737 meters high Roßkopf near Freiburg im Breisgau .

It is one of the oldest steel lattice towers in Germany and, thanks to its observation platform towering over the treetops of the wooded hilltop, gives visitors an all-round panoramic view of the Black Forest and the Rhine Valley, with good visibility to the south to the Alps and to the west to the Kaiserstuhl and the Vosges .
