The Road to Hāna (German road to Hāna) ( Hawaii State Route 36 and 360 ) runs on the north coast of Maui ( Hawaii ) from the capital Kahului in an easterly direction over 54 bridges to Hāna . The place has 709 inhabitants (2000), and an area of ​​9 km².

The road is 103.6 km long. On the way to Hāna one passes u. a. the Koʻolau Forest Reserve , a rainforest area worth visiting.

The most beautiful points on this very winding route are Twin Falls and Waikamoi Falls with idyllic bathing ponds. The road also offers a magnificent view of the Wailua and Waianapanapa valleys .

Hāna is a sleepy ranch town. Queen Kaʻahumanu , the favorite wife of King Kamehameha I , was born here in 1768.

In the further course of the road ( Hawaii State Route 31 ), which is in relatively poor condition from Hāna, one can visit Kīpahulu ʻOheʻo Gulch ( Seven Sacred Pools ), a cascade-like sequence of smaller waterfalls and the associated bathing pools that step down to the sea fall off. Above the road there are several hiking trails leading to some larger waterfalls , among others. a. the Waimoku Falls .
