The Roald Glacier is a glacier on Coronation Island in the archipelago of the Southern Orkney Islands . It flows from the vicinity of Mount Noble and Mount Sladen in an easterly direction to Gibbon Bay .
The Norwegian whaling captain Petter Sørlle mapped and named it between 1912 and 1915. It is probably named after the factory ship Roald Amundsen , which in turn is named after the Norwegian polar explorer Roald Amundsen . The Falkland Islands Dependencies Survey surveyed the glacier between 1948 and 1949.
