Friedrich von Engel

Friedrich von Engel (born August 19, 1867 in Olomouc , Margraviate Moravia , † December 20, 1941 in Vienna ) was an Austrian judge.

Life

Friedrich von Engel was born in 1867 as the son of the long-time Olomouc mayor and later member of the Reichsrat, Josef von Engel . He graduated from the grammar school in Olomouc and then studied law at the Philipps University in Marburg . In 1885 he became active in the Corps Guestphalia Marburg . As an inactive , he moved to the University of Vienna and finally to the University of Graz . For Doctor of Law doctorate , he worked at the Vienna 1890-1893 Finanzprokuratur operates.

In 1893 Friedrich von Engel changed to the judicial service. At the beginning of his judicial career he was an auscultant in Korneuburg , court adjunct in Schwechat and finally as court secretary at the Josefstadt District Court, responsible for criminal matters. Later he worked in the civil law department of the BG Josefstadt and was involved as a founding member of the Austrian Judges' Association, where he also became the editor of its communications in the further course of his career.

From 1908 he was a regional judge at the Salzburg regional court for four years . Since 1912 he has been back in Vienna as a judge at the commercial court, and in 1918 he became vice-president of the Vienna regional court for civil law matters . From 1919 to 1934 Friedrich Engel, as he was called under the Nobility Repeal Act, was a member of the Austrian Constitutional Court . From 1920 he was also the full-time president of the Vienna Commercial Court . In 1932 he retired.
