The Roaring Cliffs ( English for Brewing cliffs are) high and striking rock cliff in the Antarctic Ross Dependency . In the Queen Maud Mountains they rise up immediately north of Kutschin Peak on the west side of the Nilsen Plateau .
William Long, a geologist on a team who worked in the area between 1963 and 1964 as part of the United States Antarctic Research Program , suggested the designation. It is named after the noises that emanate from the cliffs when the wind is blowing , can be heard in the sheltered valley below the cliffs and are reminiscent of an approaching train .
