Rob Fisher (racing driver)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Rob Fisher (* approx. 1975) is a British motorcycle racer .

Career

Fischer was a sidecar motorcyclist who dominated the Isle of Man TT in this class in the mid-1990s and early 2000s . Only Dave Molyneux can show more victories in this class at the TT. As a teenager, Fisher competed in regional motocross competitions. In 1991 and 1992 he took part as a co-driver in the British Sidecar Championship. However, his team did not find a sponsor for the following season. In 1993 he therefore tried his hand at driving and finished fifth in a run for the national championship in Donington Park . In the same year he took part in the TT for the first time. At first Michael Wynn was his co-driver. But Fischer drove most of the victories together with the medical technician Rick Long from Peterborough . In total, Fischer won the TT in the sidecar race ten times. Fischer mostly competed on the teams of the designer and former racing driver Tony Baker based on Yamaha or Honda . In 2002 he retired from active racing. With his first victory in 1994, he set a new lap record for the sidecar for the Snaefell Mountain Course with an average speed of 105.71 mph (170.12 km / h) . To mark the 90th anniversary of the TT, Fischer - along with other greats in racing - took part in a parade across the course with a 600-series Baker team. Fisher shuns the public. Little is known about his private life.
