Nation: | Isle of Man |
Dave Molyneux (born November 21, 1963 in Douglas , Isle of Man ) is a British motorcycle racer and designer. He mostly drives road races .
Life
Molyneux, born on the Isle of Man , came into contact with the racing of the Isle of Man TT at an early age , as his father John Molyneux was also a successful sidecar driver.
In addition to being an active racing driver, he also appeared as a designer of racing sidecars and racing sidecars with his company DMR ( Dave Molyneux Racing ). On his own designs - from 1998 to 2007 on a Honda basis , after which he briefly used Suzuki motorcycles as the basis, then to this day using Kawasaki as the basis - he also achieved most of his victories.
Other racing drivers such as the ten-time TT winner Rob Fisher or the five-time TT winner Nick Crowe used DMR models. For its centenary in 2007, Molyneux was honored with a 100 pence postage stamp from the British Post.
Career
In 1985 Molineux competed in the Isle of Man TT for the first time. Since then he has taken part in almost every annual race, recording 17 victories. This makes him the most successful team driver in the TT and the third most successful participant in the all-time list of the best. He also sets several speed records for teams on the Snaefell Mountain Course . An accident at top speed caused a sensation, which he survived largely unharmed. Apart from the race on his home island, Molyneux only took part in very occasional racing events.
