The Robbins Company is an American company from Solon (Ohio) . Together with Herrenknecht , Robbins is a world leader in the construction of tunnel boring machines (TBMs). The company supplied the TBMs for well-known projects such as the Eurotunnel or East Side Access in New York. With a diameter of 14.4 m, the Robbins Company built the world's largest hard rock tunnel boring machine for the Robert Moses Niagara power station .

history

In 1952, James Robbins founded The Robbins Company in Seattle . He built a first machine for the company "Mitry Constructors", which was commissioned with the construction of the Oahe dam .

In 1956, cutting rollers were used for the first time in order to be able to mine hard rock. In 1972, Robbins Company introduced the first double shield TBM. In 1988, the company launched the HP-TBM (HP for High Performance) series for the Svartisen hydropower project .
