Kristof Schwarz (born January 16, 1987 ) is a former German basketball player . Among other things, he played for Phoenix Hagen in the basketball league .

career

Schwarz grew up in Henstedt-Ulzburg , he is the son of the former top German basketball referee Roger Schwarz and brother of Malte Schwarz . His basketball club career began at the age of 13, followed by positions at the Steward School in the US state of Virginia , at the Hamburg club Bramfelder SV and at SC Rist Wedel . There he played in the first regional league for a season under coach Ingo Freyer , who guided him and his brother Malte from Wedel to Hagen in his later work as coach of Phoenix Hagen in 2008.

With Phoenix, Schwarz rose from the 2. Bundesliga ProA to the basketball Bundesliga in his first season . His playing time in the highest German league decreased, so the playmaker decided after the 2009/10 season to go back to the ProA and  switch to the Crailsheim Merlins .

A shoulder injury became a disruptive factor during his time in Crailsheim. After the 2010/11 season, Schwarz decided to give priority to his business studies and his professional future over basketball and switched to the Iserlohn Kangaroos in the first regional league. There, under his former teammate Matthias Grothe, he became team captain and manager as a coach. At the beginning of 2013 he suffered a cruciate ligament tear. In the 2013/14 season, Schwarz achieved promotion to the 2nd Bundesliga ProB with the Iserlohners . After the 2016/17 season he announced the end of his playing career, but returned to the Iserlohn team during the 2017/18 season. After the 2018/19 game year, he retired from competitive sports to emigrate to the United States with his wife .
