Robert Blum memorial
The Robert Blum Memorial is a memorial stone in the Karben district of Petterweil . It was erected on July 9, 1849 in memory of Robert Blum , a revolutionary and member of the National Assembly who had been executed six months earlier, on the belly meadow just outside the village on the road connecting Rodheim vor der Höhe .
history
The monument is a stone obelisk about 150 centimeters high . On its front, an inscription commemorates Blum's meadow speech, which he held on July 9, 1848 at this point before a popular assembly. It was the last before his execution. Three years after its erection, the memorial stone had to be removed by government regulation. The villagers buried it for protection. In 1895 it was put up again in a solemn ceremony.
There is now a new, second monument that is not far from the one mentioned above. In the coming years, the entire Robert Blum facility is to be redesigned due to the new development area “old sports field”.
