Robert Abbot

Robert Abbot (* 1560 ; † March 2, 1618 ) was an English clergyman.

After several years as Regius Professor of Divinity at the University of Oxford , Abbot was Bishop of Salisbury from 1615 . He wrote De suprema potestate regia (London 1616), an eloquent apology for royal power in the sense of Stuart's conception.

Robert Abbot is the brother of George Abbot .
