Robert Bassler

Robert S. Bassler (born September 26, 1903 in Washington, DC , † November 8, 1975 in Woodland Hills , Los Angeles ) was an American film editor and film producer .

Life

Robert Bassler, who attended Central High School in his hometown of Washington DC, began his career as an editor in Hollywood in 1928 . First, at Paramount Pictures hired, where he, among others, for the section of the love affairs of an actress ( Loves of an Actress , 1928) with Pola Negri was in charge, he moved in 1934 to the Film Corporation Fox . He first worked as a producer in 1942 at 20th Century Fox for the musical The Queen of Broadway ( My Gal Sal ) with Rita Hayworth and Victor Mature in the lead roles. In 1949 he was nominated for the film drama Die Schlangengrube ( The Snake Pit ) together with Anatole Litvak for an Oscar in the category of best film . From 1958 he also worked for American television before retiring from show business in 1960.

Robert Bassler died on November 8, 1975 at the age of 72 in Woodland Hills , Los Angeles .
