Robert Kwabena Boateng (born July 3, 1974 in Obuasi ) is a former Ghanaian soccer player .
Life
Robert Boateng comes from Ghana and is the uncle of Kevin-Prince , George and Jérôme Boateng .
Soccer career
Boateng started his career at Goldfields Obuasi . In the spring of 1995 he moved to Asante Kotoko and became a professional.
In 1997 he signed with Rosenborg BK in Norway and was instant champion in the Tippeligaen . Boateng stayed the next three seasons in the Tippeligaen with RBK and played two qualifying games for the UEFA Champions League in the 2000/01 season . During his time at Rosenborg he was four times champion in the Tippeligaen. After four years at RBK, he left the club in December 2000 and returned to King Faisal Babes in Ghana. He ended his career for the 2003 Ghana Premier League season.
International assignments
Boateng played for the Ghanaian national team in ten international matches and scored one goal. Boateng was also in the squad for the 1997 Korea Cup .
