The Robert Bosch Center for Power Electronics (short: RBZ) is a research and teaching association founded in 2009 by the Bosch Group , Reutlingen University and the University of Stuttgart . This cooperation is the first and so far the only one of its kind in Germany. The Reutlingen part of the RBZ was renamed Electronics & Drives in 2020 .

aims

Due to demographic change, it is becoming increasingly difficult for many companies to find qualified personnel. The Robert Bosch Center for Power Electronics was founded to counteract this and to be able to meet the future need for skilled workers. One of the goals is an industry-oriented degree that optimally prepares students for the requirements in the development of future technologies. In addition, research in the field of power electronics is to be promoted.

Infrastructure

For the establishment and operation of the RBZ, Bosch, the state of Baden-Württemberg and the universities will contribute a total of more than 25 million euros for new professorships and infrastructure in the first ten years from the foundation. The Robert Bosch Center for Power Electronics is located in Reutlingen and Stuttgart . The Power Electronics Group comprises a total of seven chairs. Five new professorships have been set up for this purpose, three at the Reutlingen University and two at the University of Stuttgart, plus two existing chairs at the University of Stuttgart.

Both Bachelor and Master programs are offered under the umbrella of the RBZ . There is also a doctoral program .

In addition to the courses offered, there is also the possibility of obtaining a doctorate at the RBZ . The doctoral regulations of the University of Stuttgart apply.
