Robert Boykins

Robert Boykins (born December 14, 1970 ) is a retired American basketball player .

Life

The 2.02-meter-tall winger scored 1640 points for the Johnson C. Smith University team in Charlotte , North Carolina , between 1992 and 1995, making it sixth in the team's all-time basketball list.

In 1995 he gained professional experience in a summer league in the Dominican Republic . In the 1995/96 season Boykins was briefly with the team Shreveport Storm in the US league Continental Basketball Association under contract, played three games and came to an average of 5.0 points per encounter. In 1996 he was a member of the Carolina Cardinals ( United States Basketball League ). Boykins moved to South Korea to the LG Sakers, for whom he played during the 1997/98 season. In May 1998 he was signed by the Atlantic City Seagulls from the United States Basketball League (USBL).

The strong winger was in the service of the German Bundesliga club SG Braunschweig in 1998/99 . He scored an average of 14 points and 7.6 rebounds per match in 26 Bundesliga games. The Boykins, known as the “jumping miracle”, made people sit up and take notice with powerful dunking , but had difficulties getting used to the way of playing in the Bundesliga. His highest score in a Bundesliga game was 33 points, which Boykins scored in October 1998 with a field throw rate of 75 percent against Brandt Hagen  . Boykins also played in Australia and Israel during his professional career .

He and his wife have two sons and a daughter. Son Devonte played basketball at Georgia Southern University , then at North Carolina A&T State University , son Devince at Marshall University and then together with his brother at Georgia Southern University.
