Robert Dowland

Robert Dowland (* 1591 in England , † 1641 in London ) was an English composer and lutenist of the Renaissance . He was the son of the famous English lutenist John Dowland .

In 1610 he published two collections of lute music and Ayres, "A Varietie of Lute Lessons" and "A Musicall Banquet". In 1626 he followed his father to the post of royal lutenist. Dowlands Variety , also containing works by John Dowland, was the most extensive printed work of English lute music of its time.
