Robert F. Blumofe

Robert F. Blumofe (born September 23, 1909 in New York City , † July 22, 2003 in Los Angeles , California ) was an American film producer.

Life

Blumofe graduated from Columbia University with a law degree . Immediately afterwards, he worked in the legal department of Paramount Pictures in New York. In 1952 he switched to film and television production and moved to Hollywood . From 1953 he worked for United Artists and rose to become vice president of production and activities on the west coast. In 1966 Blumofe left United Artists to work as an independent film producer.

Under his supervision, three feature films were made between 1968 and 1976, and he was responsible for producing them. For Das Land ist mein Land , he and Harold Leventhal were nominated for an Oscar in the category of best film in 1977 .

In the following years he worked for the Motion Picture & Television Fund .

He is the father of the computer scientist Robert D. Blumofe .
