Robert F. Chew

Robert F. Chew (born December 28, 1960 in Baltimore , Maryland ; † January 17, 2013 ibid.) Was an American actor . He was known to a wider audience for his role as Proposition Joe in The Wire series.

Life

Chew attended Patterson High School and graduated from Morgan State University . He has been active in the theater scene in and around Baltimore since the 1980s. Chew also worked as a teacher and mentor for child and youth actors at Baltimore's Arena Players and the associated Arena Players Youth Theater.

In 1997 he first appeared as an actor and was seen in two episodes of the series Homicide . An appearance in the mini-series The Corner followed three years later . From 2002 to 2008 the series The Wire could be seen. In 2004 there was a small role in A Work of God . The film Jamesy Boy , in which Chew made a small appearance, was released posthumously in 2014 .

Chew died of heart failure in his sleep at the age of 52.
