The Corner is an American miniseries about family poverty and their entanglement in the West Baltimore drug market . The series is based on the book The Corner: A Year in the Life of an Inner-City Neighborhood by David Simon and Ed Burns , the former also co-produced. The series aired on the US cable broadcaster HBO in 2000 and consists of six episodes.

The Corner was nominated four times for the Emmy at the Primetime Emmy Awards in 2000 and was awarded in the three categories of mini-series , directing a mini-series or a television film, and writing a mini-series, a television film or a drama .

Some of the actors also appeared on the later HBO series The Wire (with Ed Burns) and Treme , both directed by David Simon.

A DVD release was released on July 22, 2003.
