Robert Gys , born in Robert Albert Eugène Gigault , (born September 22, 1901 in Asnières-sur-Seine , France , † November 15, 1977 in Cagnes-sur-Mer ) was a French film architect .

Gys, responsible for the visual design of numerous elegant, eye-catching entertainment productions for around three and a half decades at French cinema, began his cinematic activity in 1922 as an assistant to Robert Mallet-Stevens . In the days of the silent movies, Gys designed the buildings for several productions by Henri Diamant-Berger and Jacques de Baroncelli , but also worked as a set designer for René Clair's first major films .
