Robert Anthony Carmichael Hamilton, 13th Lord Belhaven and Stenton (born February 27, 1927 ) was a British peer and politician .

Life

He is the son of Robert Hamilton, 12th Lord Belhaven and Stenton from his first marriage to Heather Mildred Carmichael Bell († 1992). On his father's side, he comes from a line of the Hamilton family .

He attended Eton College and did military service as a lieutenant in the Cameronians (Scottish Rifles) of the British Army .

When his father died in 1961, he inherited his title as 13th Lord Belhaven and Stenton . A seat in the British House of Lords has been associated with the title since the Peerage Act 1963 . He lost the parliamentary seat when its inheritance was abolished with the House of Lords Act 1999 .

In 1995 he was named Commander of the Order of Merit of the Republic of Poland .

He married three times, was divorced twice and has four children.
