Robert Hanson Harrison (* 1745 in Charles County , Province of Maryland , † April 2, 1790 ibid) was an American lawyer .

Born in Charles County to Richard Harrison and Dorothy Hanson, he was married twice and had two daughters, Sarah and Dorothy. Harrison practiced law in Alexandria . He was a lieutenant in the 3rd Virginia Regiment during the Revolutionary War . In 1775 he became a wing adjutant to George Washington . The following year he succeeded Joseph Reed as Washington's Military Secretary .

From 1781 to 1789 he served as a judge in Maryland. During this time he mainly dealt with real estate law and was to be appointed by George Washington to the Supreme Court Justice of the United States in 1789 , which he refused for health reasons. In the 1789 presidential election , Harrison received six electoral votes as a federalist . He died in Charles County on April 2, 1790.
