Robert Hersov

Robert Basil Hersov (born October 9, 1960 in Johannesburg , South Africa ) is a manager and entrepreneur. He comes from the Hersov family from South Africa, the founders of the Anglovaal group.

Life

His parents are Basil Edward Hersov and Antoinette. In 1982 he graduated from the University of Cape Town with a B.Bus.Sci degree. In 1989 he received his MBA from Harvard Business School.

He began his career at Goldman Sachs in New York and then headed the European media investment banking team at Morgan Stanley in London. From 1989 to 1991 he was business development executive at News Corporation in New York for Chairman Rupert Murdoch. He was then a board member of the luxury goods company Richemont SA. He also managed FilmNet.

He then became CEO of Telepiu Srl in Milan, Italy's largest pay-TV company, which belongs to the Mediaset media group , where he was also a member of the board, until August 1997 .

In 1999 he started his own business as an investor and entrepreneur: in September 1999 he co-founded Antfactory; In November 1999 he helped found Peoplenews.com.

He became a co-founder of Marquis Jets Europe. When this was taken over in 2004 by Netjets Europe (a subsidiary of Berkshire Hathaway Inc. by Warren Buffett , which has the largest private jet fleet in the world), he became Vice Chairman there.
