Robert Hiecke (monument conservator)

Robert Hiecke (born November 26, 1876 in Berlin , † December 15, 1952 in Bad Neuenahr ) was a German conservationist .

Career

Hiecke, grandson of Robert Heinrich Hiecke , was from 1908 conservator of the architectural monuments in the province of Saxony . In 1918 he moved to the Prussian Ministry of Culture and in the same year was appointed head of the state preservation of monuments in Prussia. In 1934 he was appointed ministerial conductor in the Reich Ministry for Science, Education and National Education and was thus appointed the highest monument conservator in the German Reich. Thanks to Hieckes work, many architectural monuments were saved from destruction. In 1948 he moved from Berlin to Bad Neuenahr.

During his studies he became a member of the Academic Association Motiv .
