Robert Innes (Bishop)

Robert Innes (* 1959 ) has been Bishop of the Diocese in Europe of the Church of England since May 6, 2014 and is therefore responsible for all European and some neighboring states except the United Kingdom and Ireland .

biography

Innes graduated from the University of Cambridge and graduated as an engineer. He worked in power plants as well as with an international management consultancy before he was trained in 1989 at Cranmer Hall , Durham for ministry. He began his church career in the Anglican Diocese of Durham and worked from 1995-1999 as a lecturer at St John's College, Durham. He then spent six years as a pastor at St Mary Magdalene in Belmont .

He moved to the Diocese of Gibraltar in Europe , where he became pastor of the Holy Trinity Procathedral in Brussels in 2005. In 2012 he was named Chaplain to Her Majesty the Queen . His episcopal ordination and inauguration took place in Canterbury Cathedral on July 20, 2014 , with the Archbishop of Canterbury, the Bishops of London and the Archbishop of Lokoja presiding over the ceremony. The Old Testament reading was given in German by Katharina von Schnurbein , the EU Commission advisor for the dialogue with churches and ideological communities, and the Gospel in Dutch by Johan Bonny , the Roman Catholic Bishop of Antwerp , member of the Pontifical Council for promotion of Christian unity . The newly ordained bishop took up his office in Brussels , from where he maintains the connection with the episcopal chancellery in London.

Robert Innes is married and has three daughters and one son.
