Robert Kotei
Robert Kotei ( Robert Ebenezer Abossey Kotei; * 1935 , † June 26, 1979 in Accra ) was a Ghanaian high jumper , soldier and politician .
In 1958 he won bronze at the British Empire and Commonwealth Games in Cardiff , and in 1960 he was tenth at the Olympic Games in Rome .
In 1960 he became English champion with his personal best of 2.08 m.
He was a member of the Supreme Military Council , which ruled as a junta from 1975 to 1979, first as Commissioner for Information, later as Commander of the Land Forces of the military of Ghana with the rank of major general .
After the coup of the Revolutionary Council of the Armed Forces under Jerry Rawlings , he was executed by firing squad in 1979 .
In 2001 his body was exhumed and reburied with military honors.
