Robert M. Riddle

Robert M. Riddle ( August 17, 1812 - December 18, 1858 ) was an American politician .

Robert Riddle, the son of Judge James Riddle , grew up in Philadelphia and worked for various banks before entering politics. He was also postmaster and editor of the Commercial Journal . From 1853 to 1854 he served as mayor of Pittsburgh . During his tenure, the city's worst cholera epidemic fell. Robert M. Riddle helped found the Republican Party of the United States in 1854 .
