Robert Mitchell (Animator)

Robert A. Mitchell ( 1932 - 1985 ) was an American animator .

Life

Mitchell studied at the University of California in the 1950s , where he attended the animation workshop. During his studies in 1958 he created the two-minute animated film Andrew, A Sort of a Story, about a spider that cannot weave cobwebs. After completing his studies, Mitchell worked for various animation studios and was involved as an animator in the preproduction of the Beatles film Yellow Submarine , which was released in 1968. He eventually joined the Haboush Company as an animator. This is where the short animation film K-9000: A Space Oddity was made , which Mitchell made together with Robert Swarthe . For The Further Adventures of Uncle Sam: Part Two , which was created in collaboration with Dale Case and released in 1970, Mitchell received an Oscar nomination in 1971 for the best animated short film category and won the Cristal d'Annecy of the Festival d'Animation Annecy . Mitchell also worked as an illustrator and painter. He probably died in 1985 as a result of a malaria infection.
